For this reason, the choice of front tyre compound must be made depending on whether the rider prefers stability and precision on corner entry (K2 version) or predictability and grip feeling at the limit (K1 version).
- Predictability in competition tires is the ability to inform the driver when the limit of the tire's grip is reached.
- Under heavy braking and leaning into a turn, the rider will feel this information in smoother handling, as well as understeer due to front end skidding.

And for the rear tyre, the choice of the version is based on the coefficient of friction of the asphalt (very severe / not very severe, depending on whether we ride on the circuit or in a road race) and the temperature of the asphalt (with a maximum of 25º/30ºC).
An important aspect of compound development has focused on consistency of performance, through use (miles or laps) and time (thermal cycling).
The addition of specific resins in the compounds and the use of exclusive mixing processes allows the Metzeler Racetec RR Slick to be used during different thermal cycles.

The Metzeler Racetec RR Slick rear tire features a major update in tire dimensions in sizes 180 and 190:
- The traditional SuperSport rear measurement, 180/55, has been updated to 180/60. And in the same way, the traditional Superbike measurement of 190/55 has evolved towards the 200/60.
- The Metzeler Racetec RR Slick in size /60 offers a wider and sharper contour, meaning greater contact at all angles.
The profile improves the tire's transition between the straight line and the lean, which allows for a greater angle of inclination and allows it to be reached in less time and with maximum grip.
Versatility
The Metzeler Racetec RR Slick has been developed to achieve great adaptability across a wide range of motorcycles and to offer a good set-up.
The simple structures of the rear tire make it a very similar product to those produced for hyper sport motorcycles, making it possible for this tire to fit the tires recommended by the manufacturers of these motorcycles.
